About Carrie

carCarrie Henzie was born in Canada and lives and works in Montreal. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and Cultural Studies from McGill University in 1998. She also recently graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in photography from Concordia university, during the spring of 2011.

Carrie's work spans over 15 years. She is inspired by the human form and themes of identity and transition. Carrie integrates socio-political and feminist discourse into her work as a catalyst for discussion and to propose alternative perspectives on conventional ideas and situations.

These themes are primarily explored in series, through portraiture. Carrie works in studio as well as on location and outdoors. She strives to use light and texture to infuse her work with a consistent mood and sensibility.
